Announcing the fifth update to MkLinux DR The "DRupdate5" update fixes several bugs in MkLinux's Microkernel and Server. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. We hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to .

MkLinux was then a joint effort in by Apple and the OSF to both have Linux on the PPC and exploit Mach features in the single-server emulation. As such, the history is convoluted. It's not that Mach is so great, but rather that circumstances made it creep in various places. Nubus systems are not currently supported by debian/powerpc. The monolithic Linux/PPC kernel architecture does not have support for these machines; instead, one must use the MkLinux Mach microkernel, which Debian does not yet support. These .

This book takes you from a blank hard disk to PPP connecting and X-Windows startup quickly. It also includes some basic descriptions of Linux, Mach, the PowerMac hardware, etc., and pointers to other references (both on the Internet and in print).

I recommend this book to anyone who is planning to start using MkLinux/5(3). You can purchase the Mklinux book directly from PTF and from many professional and technical bookstores.

Unfortunately, this book is very out of date. Mklinux book it may be useful as a guide, the CD that comes with the book includes MkLinux DR3 (Developer Release 3) which is ancient.

The book starts off with basic information on PC architecture, including the BIOS, the hardware, and the history of the PC and how it influences multi-OS configurations.

It then proceeds onto practical advice on partitioning, OS installation, data exchange, cross-platform utilities, networking, and modern hardware. The effort was spearheaded by Brett Halle at Apple and development split between Michael Burg (device drivers and distribution) at Apple in Cupertino, California, and Nick.
